New Year AND New Beginnings?
8:28 PM
After celebrating a time of year where you eat to your fullest, drink to your hearts content and spend time with the people you love, you move to a new year. When the new year comes, you make a resolution. Or at least that is the tradition right? One thing that has been really hard for me to do is to make a new year’s resolution. I have never really understood the meaning of making them. Whenever, I have tried, I have failed. I can hit the gym, eat better, spend less, look for a new job, go back to school, save money etc...but why do I need to wait until January 1st to do these things. So the concept really doesn’t meant that much to me.
What I do believe is creating goals that you can actually achieve. Over the course of the last year I feel that I have done a really good lifestyle change. I eat better than I have, lost almost 40 pounds (which now I weigh less than I did in high school!) and have a decent job. I did this by doing little and gradual changes. What I have noticed when people make new year’s resolutions is that they try to completely change their lifestyle and do it all at once. I have done this and it hasn’t been successful.
So my question for you: do you make a new year’s resolution? If so, why? If not, why?
I do have high hopes for 2013 and that it will be a great year for all!
